I'll be spending a Friday and Saturday evening in London and I'm looking for a couple hotel recommendations. I plan on doing the normal tourist activities on Saturday and Sunday. I'll be arriving and departing by train.

If you are traveling on your own dime, and getting in to Paddington, there are a load of convenient hotels right around Paddington station in the Norfolk Square/Sussex Gardens area. If you are looking for something a bit nicer, I have found the the Athenaeum to be very comfortable, just north of Green Park and down the streen from Picadilly and the other attractions in the West End.

Granted, this is now Friday night/Saturday morning, so you might already be situated.

Holiday Inn Express, Swiss Cottage. It's cheap and good quality, and opposite Finchley Road tube station which is 4 minutes from Baker Street (Metropolitan Line). Or the Jubilee line to take you to Westminster, or Bond Street (Oxford Street, right by Selfridges)

I just got back from a trip and stayed at the City Inn Westminster because it ranked so highly (#9) in TripAdvisor. It was terrific!
